Google Earth Outreach
- June 29th, 2007 - When Google Earth was launched two years ago, a different and more accessible perspective of the planet became available to millions of users, presently standing at 250,000,000. At first, it was a place to go to see your house, explore your neighbourhood and maybe see where you went on holiday. But when Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, a new potential for geospatial information enabling a better understanding emerged. Since then, many non profit organizations contacted us asking questions about how they could integrate Google Earth into their work. Technical help, assistance and inspirational examples were clearly important. We have now launched the
Google Earth Outreach
program, offering support to non profit organizations, allowing them to provide an extra viewpoint on their work. Please read the
Official Google Blog
release by program manager Rebecca Moore on this exciting new initiative, which includes a video of the launch. - Thank you, The Google Earth Team
